Last updated: July 2026. This policy applies to frasercoastadventures.com and any page hosted on that domain.
Fraser Coast Adventures is a small operator-run site based in Hervey Bay, Queensland. We are not a corporation, a marketing agency, or a tourism board. We are one guide with a notebook and a website. This policy is written in plain language because the legal template copies tend to confuse more than they explain, and you deserve to know what is happening with your data without needing a law degree.
What We Collect
When you visit frasercoastadventures.com, the following happens automatically through third-party services that we have configured on every page:
- Google Analytics 4 (property ID ) collects anonymised traffic data. We have IP anonymisation turned on, which means Google truncates your IP address before storing it. Google Analytics 4 does not log the full IP address of visitors from inside the EEA, the UK, or any other region where IP truncation is the default.
- GoatCounter (counter site frasercoastadventures.goatcounter.com) collects anonymous page-view counts. GoatCounter is a privacy-focused analytics tool. It does not set tracking cookies, does not fingerprint your browser, and does not share data with advertising networks. It counts a visit and moves on.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information through this site unless you choose to send it to us. We do not run a contact form. We do not run comments. We do not run a newsletter. There is nothing on this site that asks you for personal information, and there is no database holding any.
Cookies
This site sets the cookies required to make the analytics above function. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (commonly named _ga and _ga_*) that distinguish unique visitors and sessions. GoatCounter does not set cookies. No advertising cookies are set anywhere on this site.
If you would prefer not to be counted by either service, you can block or delete cookies in your browser, use your browser's private or incognito mode, or install a content blocker such as uBlock Origin. Blocking these cookies will not affect your ability to read any page on this site. The content is identical either way.
Affiliate Disclosure and Viator
Some links on this site are affiliate links to Viator, the tour-booking platform. Our partner ID is P00299531 and our partner MCID is 42383. When you click a Viator link on this site, Viator sets its own cookies and may record that the visit came from frasercoastadventures.com, so we can be credited with the referral if you book a tour.
If you book a tour through one of our links, Viator pays us a commission. You pay the same price you would pay if you went directly to Viator. We mention this because honest disclosure matters, and because most jurisdictions require it. We do not get paid to recommend a specific tour operator. If we recommend a tour, it is because we have either run that tour ourselves or watched enough other operators run it to have formed an opinion.
Viator's own handling of your booking data is governed by Viator's privacy policy, not this one. If you create a Viator account, enter payment details, or save a search, that data is held by Viator on its own servers. We do not see your booking details, your payment information, or your Viator account email. We only see anonymised summary reports from Viator showing how many bookings came through our partner ID in a given
Third Parties We Do Not Use
We do not use Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, Segment, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any other behavioural analytics or advertising tracker on this site. We do not embed YouTube videos, Facebook posts, or third-party social media widgets. We do not use a third-party chat tool. If a future page adds something that collects data we have not listed above, we will update this policy first and note the change at the top of the page.
Data Retention
Google Analytics 4 retains event data for 2 months by default, then deletes it. GoatCounter retains its anonymous counts for the lifetime of the counter. We do not maintain a separate visitor database anywhere on our end. Your visit is recorded once by Google and once by GoatCounter, and that is the whole record.
Your Rights
Because we are based in Australia and the site is aimed primarily at an Australian audience, we follow the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you are in the UK, the EEA, California, or anywhere else with their own privacy regime, the controls available to you through Google and GoatCounter will also apply, because those services are configured to operate under their own regional rules in addition to ours.
You have the right to ask what data either service holds about you, and to ask for it to be deleted. For Google, the controls live at myaccount.google.com under Data and Privacy. For GoatCounter, the counter does not hold identifiable data, so there is generally nothing to delete on that side beyond the anonymous count itself.
Contact
If you have a privacy question, a correction request, or a complaint about how this site handles data, email pete@frasercoastadventures.com. We read every message. Replies usually arrive within a few days, sometimes longer in whale season when the inbox gets busy.
If you would prefer to write by post, the site's mailing address is available on request via email. We do not publish a street address on the site because there is no office to visit. This is a one-person operation run from a home in Hervey Bay.
Changes to This Policy
If we change anything material in this policy, we will update the date at the top and note the change at the bottom of the page. The previous version will be archived and available on request. Material changes include adding a new analytics service, adding advertising, or adding any feature that collects personal information beyond what is described above.
